The teams will complete the four-game MIAA series tomorrow with a twinbill at Olivet’s Cutler Athletic Complex, beginning at 1 p.m.

Baseball team swept by Hope, 5-1 and 13-10
The Olivet College baseball team was swept by Hope College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. The Flying Dutchmen won the first game, 5-1. In the nightcap, the teams then combined for 23 runs and 32 hits, and Hope won 13-10.

For the third time this season, the Olivet College baseball team has swept a road Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader. Today, the Comets did it in impressive fashion, shutting out Hope College, 3-0 and 4-0, at Boeve Stadium in Holland. In game one, junior pitcher Jay Magro carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before it was broken up with a one-out single. In the second game, freshman David Hernandez threw five and one-third innings of relief to earn his first win.

The Olivet College baseball team split a twinbill with Calvin College in the last two games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) series today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. Sophomore Jake Ball (Cadillac) threw a complete game, four-hitter to lead the Comets to a 3-0 shutout win the first game. The Knights won the nightcap, 2-0, to prevent Olivet from sweeping the four-game series.

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) preseason baseball and softball coaches’ polls have been released. The Comet baseball team was picked eighth, while the softball team was chosen seventh. Defending MIAA champions Adrian College for baseball and Alma College for softball have been selected as the preseason favorites.
