Olivet College track and field teams receive academic award, Tyler earns honor
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track and field teams have received an award for being a 2012 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team.
OLIVET, Mich. -- The Olivet College men’s and women’s track and field teams have received an award for being a 2012 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team. The award is open to any collegiate track and field program that has a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 or above. In addition, senior Trevor Tyler (Roscommon) earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
Led by Head Coach Jeff Kavalunas, the Comet men posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.28 and was one-of-four Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) schools to receive the award. Under the leadership of Head Coach Karen Lutzke, the women’s team had a 3.31 cumulative team GPA and were one-of-five MIAA schools to receive the award. The women also received this honor last season.
