OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College freshman women’s lacrosse player Geri Merrell, of Battle Creek and Lakeview High School is the Comet of the Week for April 9-15.
Merrell helped Olivet post a 1-1 record last week, as she scored a team-leading 11 points on seven goals and four assists. In a 15-13 win over Albion College April 11, she broke the single-game school record for assists with three and also had three goals for six points. Merrell followed that performance with four goals and one assist in a 21-13 loss to College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) April 14.
Merrell has already broken the single-season school record for points (44), goals (37), assists (seven) and shots (89). In addition to her single-game assists record, she also holds the single-game record for goals (seven) and tied for the single-game record in points (eight) and shots (12).
The Comets travel to play Trine (Ind.) University Wednesday at 4 p.m., and host Carthage (Wis.) College Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
